ASAM Joins Letter Requesting Federal Best Practices to Protect Youth Amidst Marijuana Legalization in States
In early December, ASAM joined a sign-on letter to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Following the release of a report from The National Academies of Medicine urging the CDC to develop best practices for the state regulation of marijuana among other recommendations, the letter encouraged CDC and other federal agencies to work together to quickly develop these best practices given the wide variation in state regulation of marijuana.
