ASAM Joins Call to Protect Medicaid for People with Substance Use Disorders
On January 29, ASAM and over 50 other healthcare organizations sent a letter to leadership of the House and Senate Budget Committees urging them to protect Medicaid for individuals with mental health conditions and substance use disorders (SUDs). The letter, which was spearheaded by the Mental Health Liaison Group, outlines concerns around current policy proposals that would cut Medicaid funding or benefits. The coalition notes that this is particularly worrisome given that Medicaid is the largest payer of lifesaving, evidence-based mental health and SUD care.
