Cannabis

ASAM recommends that states enact policies that reduce youth access and exposure to cannabis products, implement science-based campaigns to provide public education on risks for youth, and in states where cannabis products are legal, states should enforce measures that prevent diversion of such products to minors.

Tobacco

ASAM recommends that the government increase federal tobacco excise taxes to reduce harmful tobacco use, increase federal revenues, and save lives; state and local governments can also maintain or increase tobacco taxes.

Alcohol

  • ASAM’s Public Policy Statement on Prevention

ASAM recommends that the government increase federal alcohol excise taxes to reduce harmful alcohol use, increase federal revenues, and save lives.
