ASAM Voices Support for Legislation to Encourage Adoption of Integrated Care Models
ASAM has signed onto a joint letter delivered to Senate Finance, House Ways and Means, and House Energy and Commerce Committee leadership urging them to pass the Connecting Our Medical Providers with Links to Expand Tailored and Effective (COMPLETE) Care Act (H.R. 5819/S.1378).
The bipartisan bill was drafted in response to ongoing barriers to behavioral healthcare services, including a lack of care coordination and persistent workforce shortages. If passed, the COMPLETE Care Act would encourage the adoption of integrated delivery models that will make behavioral health services more accessible to patients. It would do this through a temporary increase in Medicare reimbursement rates for integrated care codes.
ASAM was joined by several other healthcare and medical organizations, including the American Psychiatric Association, American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School, and others.
