In Coalition, ASAM Asks Congress to Expand Access to Addiction Treatment in Jails and Prisons

On September 25, ASAM signed a letter sent to leadership of the House and its Energy & Commerce Committee expressing gratitude for their efforts in reauthorizing the Support for Patients and Communities Reauthorization Act ("SUPPORT Act"). The coalition of organizations noted in the letter that the Reentry Act and Due Process Continuity of Care Act, which would grant more flexibility for Medicaid-eligible incarcerated individuals, were not included in legislative text being considered on the House floor this week, and urged swift passage of both pieces of legislation.
