ASAM encourages you to use your voice, expertise, and knowledge to increase addiction prevention, treatment, remission, and recovery through volunteer opportunities. Here you will find opportunities to serve on ASAM’s councils, committees, subcommittees as well as task force groups. Terms of service can be short or long-term depending on the charge of the group.

Adolescent Criteria Volume Case Writers CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS! 

We are seeking volunteers with experience working with adolescents to help sketch out adolescent case studies for The ASAM Criteria, Fourth Edition, Adolescent Volume. These case studies will be used to test the Dimensional Admission Criteria. Volunteers will be provided with a template and given general guidelines on what kind of case to sketch out, depending on their area of expertise. We anticipate sketches to be approximately 1 page in length. 

Volunteers will be acknowledged in the contributors’ section of the Adolescent Volume. 

Anticipated timeline: October - November 2024

JAM Accepting Applications for Statistical Editor (2025-2027)

Exceptional candidates for the position will possess a doctoral degree, have experience in scientific publishing,  and substantial knowledge of statistical methods including pharmacoepidemiology, implementation science and causal inference. 

The Statistical Editors are appointed to renewable 3-year terms, offering an exciting opportunity to advance addiction medicine and shape the future of academic publishing. Annual stipend is available.

Continuing Education (CE) Committee

The ASAM Continuing Education (CE) Committee is seeking committee member volunteers to ensure our accredited continuing education activities are based on valid content, independent of commercial influence, balanced and scientifically rigorous, meet the requirements of ASAM’s accrediting bodies and adhere to the ACCME Standards. Work is primarily asynchronous in addition to 1-4 committee meetings annually.
