The CONTINUUM Science Team and FEI are currently utilizing a phased approach to align the CONTINUUM algorithm with the 4th edition of the ASAM Criteria. The new clinical decision-making algorithm will be developed based on the 4th Edition dimensional admission criteria standards. The algorithm will be reflected both in the updated CONTINUUM and Co-Triage tools as well as the Level of Care Assessment Guide for improved standardization between implementation tools

Following completion of product development and testing, ASAM will work with our technical partners to integrate the new software into their EHR platforms. Availability will vary depending on each technical partner's timeline to complete their integrations.

The 3rd Edition tools are still valid for determining a level of care recommendation. We expect that it will take time for states to transition to the new 4th Edition standards. ASAM and FEI will continue to support the functioning of the 3rd Edition CONTINUUM and CO-Triage tools for several years.
