I bring a unique voice to ASAM as a child and adolescent psychiatrist. I am passionate about the development and implementation of outpatient co-occurring care and the prevention of substance use disorders in youth. I am active in Minnesota ASAM, presented at the 2024 ASAM annual meeting about problematic social media use, and am currently in the adolescent level of care writing group. I also contributed my story to the "Why I Treat" campaign for ASAM.
2. How would your election to the ASAM Board of Directors benefit ASAM and the field of addiction medicine?
I would serve as a vocal leader and advocate while bringing my voice as a child and adolescent psychiatrist. I have special interests in prevention of substance use disorders, behavioral addictions such as problematic social media use, and impacts of cannabis legalization on our field. I would like to improve ASAMs collaboration with our colleagues in other areas of medicine on these and other topics. In addition to my professional interests, I also bring my lived experience as the child of a parent lost to substance use disorder.
