Legislative Day Orientation Washington Court Hotel, Montpelier Room 7:00AM - 8:00AM Overview: A review of the day's agenda, the materials, questions and answers.   ASAM Success Stories--Participants will hear from fellow ASAM members who have successfully lobbied local and federal issues. Advocacy Training Breakfast Washington Court Hotel, Montpelier Room 8:00AM - 10:00 AM "Lobbying 101"--Presented by Advocacy Associates, LLC.  Participants will learn effective grassroots lobbying skills, including role-play, in preparation for their Congressional office visits. Federal Addiction Issues--Participants will get an overview of some of the priority federal policy issues related to addiction treatment. Congressional Office Visits Capitol Hill, House and Senate Offices 11:00AM - 5:00PM Participants will meet with their respective Congresspersons and/or their staffers for the remainder of the day.  These meetings are prearranged and by appointment only.  Please contact Alexis Geier-Horan at ageier@asam.org to set up your appointments.  Indicate which of your elected officials you prefer to make an appointment with.
